Christmas Message 2009

For a week or so now I have been thinking and praying about what I wanted to say to you for Christmas. As this process unfolded I came upon an interesting question. Was Christ the original first responder ? I think he just might be.

Let's take a look at it,

Jesus was born to save the world. Responders are born to save people from a variety of perils.

Responders deal with people from all different backgrounds, even those most others would ignore. Christ ministered to lepers, and Samaritans and a variety of other groups that "the world" did not see as worth the effort.

Jesus is always there for us. First Responders switch from leap from their beds, or whatever else they are doing as quick as the tones drop.

First responders often have to deal with limited resources. Christ twice fed the multitudes with own a few fish and loaves of bread.

The bottom line is that Jesus understands the nature of a first responders as only one of us can. We should be completely comfortable coming to him with our questions and concerns. Christ will always be our partner as we go about protecting our communities, and will always "have our back !"
