Mass for Firefighters tomorrow at St. Paul’s
The Diocese of Worcester will honor a number of Central Massachusetts firefighters tomorrow for their heroic actions or community service during the past year.
St. Florian Awards will be presented to the firefighters during the 12th annual Mass for Firefighters at 10:15 a.m. in St. Paul’s Cathedral, Chatham Street.

Chaplain’s faith helped him through ordeal of 1999 fire
In the spring of 1962, the Rev. Peter J. Scanlon, then a curate in Southbridge, received a letter from Bishop Bernard J. Flanagan informing him that he was the new assistant fire chaplain for the Diocese of Worcester.“The bishop wrote that he thought I might be the guy for the position,” said Rev.
